East Central Railway Intensifies Security Ahead of Ram Navami Celebrations
The East Central Railway (ECR) has significantly bolstered security protocols across all its stations in anticipation of Ram Navami on Friday. Railway officials confirmed that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has been placed on high alert to guarantee the seamless and secure transit of passengers, with particular focus on bustling and sensitive locations.
Comprehensive Security Deployment at Key Stations
According to Amaresh Kumar, ECR's principal chief security commissioner-cum-IG of RPF, enhanced security arrangements extend beyond Patna Junction to include Danapur, Rajendra Nagar Terminal, Patliputra Junction, Sitamarhi, Janakpur Road, Simri Bakhtiyarpur, Badlaghat, Darbhanga, Hajipur, Gaya, and numerous other stations. RPF personnel have received strict instructions to maintain continuous surveillance via CCTV cameras at all major stations, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring.
Covert and Overt Measures for Maximum Safety
In a strategic move, RPF intelligence operatives in plain clothes have been stationed at vulnerable spots to closely observe activities and preempt any potential disturbances. Kumar emphasized that special attention is being given to crowd management, with female RPF staff assigned to assist women passengers and effectively oversee crowd dynamics during peak hours.
The area surrounding the Mahavir Mandir side of Patna Junction, which typically experiences heavy foot traffic during Ram Navami, has been under 24x7 surveillance since Thursday to safeguard passenger entry and exit. Additionally, RPF teams are conducting random luggage checks using hand-held metal detectors, while sniffer dogs have been deployed during the movement of premier trains at Patna Junction to ensure foolproof security.
Appeal for Passenger Cooperation
Meanwhile, railway authorities have urged passengers, especially daily commuters, to cooperate with security personnel and adhere to guidelines to facilitate a smooth travel experience amid the festive rush. Kumar reiterated that these measures are designed to prioritize passenger safety while maintaining operational efficiency during this critical period.
