Authorities in Dubai have taken strict action against a supercar driver whose dangerous antics, captured in viral videos, caused a public disturbance across the city. The vehicle was seized and the motorist slapped with a hefty fine for performing risky high-speed maneuvers.
Swift Police Action Following Viral Videos
The Dubai Police tracked down and impounded the supercar after clips showing the driver's reckless behaviour at various locations went viral on social media. Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, the Acting Director of the General Department of Traffic, confirmed that the driver has been referred to higher authorities for legal proceedings.
The list of violations was extensive and serious. The driver was charged with:
- Excessive speeding on public roads.
- Making illegal modifications to the vehicle that caused loud exhaust noises and even emitted flames.
- Disturbing the peace of residents and other road users.
- Endangering his own life and the safety of others.
Authorities Issue Stern Warning to Motorists
Brigadier bin Suwaidan emphasised that public roads are not a stage for stunts or risky experiments. He warned that such illegal modifications and reckless driving can lead to severe accidents, distract other drivers, and cause a loss of vehicle control.
“Such behaviours are not only a nuisance but are extremely dangerous,” he stated, urging all drivers to adhere to traffic laws to ensure public safety and order.
Advanced Tech Used to Nab Offender
The Dubai Police utilised advanced monitoring technology, both online and on the streets, to identify and apprehend the traffic offender. The viral video evidence was crucial in helping authorities locate the specific vehicle involved.
Upon seizing the car, the police imposed a release fine of AED 10,000 on the driver. The legal measures were further justified by the noise pollution and disturbance caused to the community.
Authorities reiterated their firm stance, stating that roads are not for showing off. They encouraged residents to report any traffic violations promptly through official channels, highlighting their commitment to public safety through state-of-the-art monitoring tools to curb reckless driving.
