New Delhi: In a heartbreaking turn of events, a young woman who had become the financial backbone of her family met with a tragic end in a car accident early this week. Srishti Sisodia, just 23 years old, lost her life when the SUV she was traveling in collided with a stationary truck near the Rajokri flyover at dawn on Monday.
A Life Cut Short in Its Prime
While many of her peers were still navigating campus life and academic pursuits, Srishti had already embarked on her professional journey immediately after finishing school. She did not attend regular college classes but instead opted for correspondence courses while working, demonstrating remarkable determination to support her family.
The Tragic Accident Details
The fatal collision occurred when the SUV rammed into a stationary truck that was parked unattended and unmarked near the Rajokri flyover. Two other individuals sustained injuries in the accident. Srishti was rushed to AIIMS hospital where medical professionals pronounced her dead upon arrival.
The Family She Supported
Srishti's family represents a humble household where every member contributed to their collective wellbeing. Her father, Heeralal, works tirelessly as a food delivery worker, navigating Delhi's chaotic traffic daily to provide for his children. Her mother, Urmila, manages the household as a homemaker.
The family included two brothers—Rishab and Ritesh—who along with their parents saw Srishti as a symbol of upward mobility and hope for a better future. "She contributed to the household finances from a very young age," her cousin revealed, painting a portrait of a woman who traded textbooks for pay cheques to ensure her family stayed afloat.
A Recent Career Milestone
Just before her untimely death, Srishti had achieved a significant career milestone that promised to open new doors for her family. She had recently joined a company in Gurgaon, marking her transition to corporate life that was supposed to be the beginning of a more comfortable chapter for the Sisodia family.
"All three of them had worked extra hard, especially Srishti, because she had got a job when the earlier company had come to her school and hired her then," the cousin sister explained, highlighting the young woman's dedication from her earliest working days.
A Celebration Turned Tragedy
The accident occurred during what should have been a joyous period for the family. Rishab, Srishti's elder brother, was celebrating his first wedding anniversary on February 2—the very day of the accident. Coincidentally, his baby also turned two months old on the same day.
"Srishti was very attached to the baby. She had planned a photoshoot for the kid," a cousin shared, adding another layer of poignancy to the tragedy. The family's celebrations were abruptly shattered by the devastating news.
Additional Family Challenges
Compounding the family's grief is the recent health scare experienced by Srishti's father. A relative disclosed that Heeralal had suffered a heart attack recently and had only recovered from his illness a few days before his daughter's tragic death.
Now, the same father who spent his days navigating the city's streets to provide for his children faces the unimaginable task of performing his daughter's last rites—a tragic reversal of the natural order where parents expect to see their children thrive and prosper.
The Sisodia family's story highlights the struggles and sacrifices of countless young Indians who shoulder financial responsibilities early in life, and the fragility of dreams built through relentless hard work and determination.
