Hyderabad Police Crack Case: Daughter and Boyfriend Arrested for Mother's Murder and Burial in Bedroom

In a shocking development in Hyderabad, police have arrested the younger daughter of a 40-year-old woman and her boyfriend for allegedly killing the mother and burying her body in the bedroom of their Jawaharnagar home. The arrest comes nearly a year after the victim, Anju Dasari, went missing, with the duo even sealing the floor with concrete to conceal the crime, according to authorities.

Details of the Crime and Investigation

Anju Dasari, who worked as a house maid, lived with her two daughters, aged 20 and 17. On October 17, 2025, the elder daughter, Roshini Kumari, filed a police complaint stating that her mother had been missing since May 12, 2025, after leaving for work and not returning. Initially, the investigation yielded no results, but police grew suspicious when the statements of the 17-year-old daughter were found to be inconsistent.

By scanning her Call Data Records (CDR), investigators tracked down her boyfriend, Monti Kumar Singh, a 22-year-old auto driver. Both were taken into custody on March 17, 2026. During interrogation, Singh and the minor girl confessed to the murder, revealing that they killed Anju because she opposed their relationship due to the girl's minor age and Singh's different caste.

Background of the Relationship and Previous Legal Issues

In 2024, Anju had filed a police complaint against Singh under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, leading to his arrest and a 50-day jail term. After being released on bail, he reconnected with the minor, prompting Anju to file another case, resulting in his re-arrest by Bollaram police on charges of POCSO violation and rape. Police stated that the duo decided to kill Anju when Singh got relief from jail the second time, viewing her as a hurdle to their relationship.

Execution of the Murder and Cover-Up

On May 12, 2025, when Anju returned home, Singh was waiting with the co-accused daughter. He stabbed her in the chest, killing her. They wrapped the body and hid it under a cot for a day before digging the floor and burying it in the bedroom, covering the area with concrete. After a few days, the couple moved to Jeedimetla to Singh's house, where they were later arrested.

Police Findings and Legal Actions

Based on the confessions, the victim's body was exhumed on Wednesday. The accused have been booked under Sections 103(1) for murder and 238 for intentionally destroying evidence under the BNS and will be produced before a magistrate soon. Police denied reports that the arrest was linked to an attempt to sell Anju's bike, clarifying that the CDR analysis was key to cracking the case.

Delayed Complaint and Family Dynamics

Investigators revealed that Roshini waited five months to file the missing complaint because her sister had convinced her that Anju might have left for a relationship with an unknown man. During this time, Singh married the minor at a temple and impregnated her. Months later, at the instigation of the minor girl, the sisters tried to recover Anju's money from a chit fund business operator, who refused and insisted they file a complaint, leading to the police involvement. The minor ensured Roshini remained unaware of the murder throughout.
