Coimbatore Man Fatally Assaulted by Neighbors in Family Dispute
A tragic incident unfolded in Coimbatore district on Thursday night, resulting in the death of a 49-year-old man who was brutally beaten by two of his neighbors. The altercation stemmed from a domestic quarrel that escalated into a violent confrontation.
Victim and Suspects Identified
The deceased has been identified as S Nagaraj, a resident of Gandhi Sathukkam in Arivoli Nagar. The Madukkarai police swiftly arrested his neighbors, M Nagaraj, 32, and his brother M Alagaraja, 30, on charges of murder. Both suspects have been remanded to judicial custody following their arrest.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragedy
The incident began when a quarrel erupted between Alagaraja's wife and his mother. Alagaraja's mother called her elder son, M Nagaraj, to intervene. Upon arriving at the scene, M Nagaraj questioned Alagaraja's wife, which led to a heated argument.
Hearing the commotion, S Nagaraj's wife, Vijayalakshmi, stepped in to calm the situation. However, M Nagaraj objected to her intervention and allegedly assaulted her. This prompted S Nagaraj to confront M Nagaraj, resulting in a physical altercation.
Violent Assault and Fatal Injuries
During the confrontation, M Nagaraj picked up a wooden log and struck S Nagaraj on the head, while Alagaraja punched him in the chest. The victim suffered a severe bleeding head injury and collapsed immediately.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital and later transferred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment. Despite medical efforts, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

The Madukkarai police have registered a murder case against the two brothers. Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation to gather evidence and determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
