The district mahila court in Coimbatore has announced that it will deliver its verdict in the shocking gang rape case involving a college student on March 7. This decision follows the completion of a remarkably swift trial that concluded in less than two months.

The horrific incident occurred on the intervening night of November 2 and 3, 2025. According to police reports, the college student was with her boyfriend in a stationary car when three men approached them. The assailants first assaulted the boyfriend before forcibly taking the young woman to a deserted area near the Coimbatore airport, where they gang-raped her.

Arrests and Legal Proceedings

The Peelamedu police acted promptly, arresting three individuals in connection with the crime:

  • T Karuppusamy alias Satheesh, 30, from Singampunari in Sivaganga district
  • T Kaleeswaran alias Karthik, 21, his brother
  • M Guna alias Thavasi, 20, a relative from Madurai district

Police filed a chargesheet against all three accused on January 8, 2026, setting the stage for a rapid judicial process.

Expedited Trial and Witness Examination

The trial proceeded with unusual speed, completing within two months. Witness examination began on February 2, during which the court heard testimony from 72 witnesses. These included:

Following the conclusion of these final submissions, in-charge judge V Sundararaj formally announced that the verdict would be delivered on March 7.
