What began as a typical young student's dream of college life at Chandigarh's DAV College quickly descended into a dark tale of crime, betrayal, and violence. The paths of Lawrence Bishnoi, Goldy Brar, and Inderpreet Singh, alias Parry, intertwined in student politics, only to unravel in a deadly gangland feud that recently claimed a life.
The College Days: Friendship Forged in Student Politics
In 2010, a fresh-faced Inderpreet Parry, a resident of Sector 33, met Lawrence Bishnoi as a fellow student at DAV College. They quickly became inseparable friends, bonding over student politics and their association with the SOPU student union. Their group, which included Goldy Brar who also enrolled around the same time, were just boys who hung out routinely. Lawrence was a frequent visitor at Parry's family home in Sector 33, a testament to their close bond.
Their initial brushes with the law were typical of aggressive student politics—assault cases. However, their trajectory took a severe and irreversible turn on June 28, 2011. Fourteen years ago, Lawrence Bishnoi, along with his associates including Parry, broke into a house in Chandigarh's Sector 40. The armed intrusion and attack on a person led to their imprisonment together. This event marked the definitive point where they transitioned from campus figures to hardened criminals.
The Unraveling: Rivalry, Suspicion, and Murder
For years, Parry was counted among Lawrence Bishnoi's most trusted lieutenants. A falling out seemed unimaginable. The rift, however, was catalyzed by the escalating rivalry between the gangs of Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. The conflict turned bloody last month when the Goldy Brar gang claimed responsibility for killing Jora Sidhu alias Sippa, a close aide of Lawrence Bishnoi, in Dubai.
This killing opened a chasm of suspicion and revenge. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang began to suspect Parry of dual loyalties. They accused him of extorting money from Chandigarh club owners for the Goldy Brar gang and withholding the share from the Bishnoi faction. Furthermore, Bishnoi's circle grew increasingly uneasy with Parry's perceived growing closeness to both Goldy Brar and another figure, Rohit Godara.
According to police, it was this potent mix of apprehension and insecurity that led to Parry's murder. In a tragic twist, Parry's family revealed he was on the brink of leaving his criminal past behind. He had gotten married just 15 days before his death and expressed a strong desire to start a new, lawful life.
Brar vs Bishnoi: A Friendship Shattered
The roots of the current gang war also lie in the broken friendship between Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi. Like Parry, they became friends during their DAV College days and involvement in Chandigarh's student politics. Their criminal partnership eventually soured. The Brar gang suspected Sippa, the aide killed in Dubai, of extorting money for Bishnoi and leaking information about Brar's gang members to the police.
Bishnoi, furious over Sippa's killing, saw it as a direct declaration of war. The cycle of violence escalated with Parry's murder, after which Goldy Brar allegedly released an audio clip threatening the Lawrence Bishnoi gang with severe revenge. This ongoing feud highlights how college alliances, once built on camaraderie, have morphed into a dangerous power struggle on the streets of Chandigarh and beyond, with international connections reaching places like Dubai.
The story of these three individuals serves as a grim reminder of how early choices and associations can permanently alter destinies, turning the promise of youth into a relentless nightmare of crime and retribution.
