Cachar Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs 2.82 Crore, Arrest Two

Silchar: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Cachar police conducted two separate operations on Sunday, seizing suspected heroin valued at approximately Rs 2.82 crore and arresting two individuals, officials confirmed.

First Operation in Sonai

The first operation took place at Gachtala Tematha under Sonai police station. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police arrested Riaz Uddin Laskar. During a search, seven soap cases were recovered from his possession, each containing 123.51 grams of suspected heroin. Additionally, Rs 40,000 in cash was seized from Laskar.

Second Operation at Lailapur

In a separate incident at the Lailapur police picket, officers intercepted a scooter during routine checking. From the vehicle's storage compartment, 33 multi-coloured soap cases were recovered, containing approximately 441.09 grams of suspected heroin. The rider, identified as Ziabur Rahman Laskar, was immediately taken into custody. The scooter used for transporting the contraband was also seized.

Total Seizure Details

Police stated that the combined quantity of heroin seized from both operations amounted to 564.6 grams, with an estimated street value of Rs 2.82 crore. Investigations are ongoing to trace the broader drug network.
