An IndiGo Airlines flight operating from Goa to Ahmedabad was forced into an emergency security protocol on Thursday after a bomb threat was discovered on board. The aircraft, however, executed a safe landing at its destination.
Flight Details and Safe Landing
The incident involved IndiGo flight 6E 6208, which had taken off from Mopa International Airport (GOX) in Goa and was en route to Ahmedabad. A security threat note, indicating a potential bomb on board, was found during the journey. Following standard operating procedures, the flight continued to its destination and made a safe landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in Ahmedabad at 7:00 PM (1900 hrs).
A spokesperson for SVPIA confirmed the event, stating, "A security threat note was reported on an arriving flight from Mopa (GOX) to Ahmedabad (AMD). The aircraft landed safely at 1900 hrs and is undergoing checks as per protocol. Airport operations remain unaffected."
Intensive Security Sweep Conducted
Upon landing, the aircraft was immediately isolated for a thorough security inspection. Multiple agencies swung into action to clear the plane. Teams from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the Airport Police, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), and the Dog Squad meticulously combed the aircraft. The comprehensive checks were conducted as per established security protocols to ensure the complete safety of the aircraft, passengers, and crew.
A Pattern of Recent Threats
This security scare marks the second such incident involving an IndiGo flight in Ahmedabad this month. On December 4, 2025, another IndiGo flight, 6E 058, traveling from Madinah, Saudi Arabia, to Hyderabad, was diverted for an emergency landing in Ahmedabad after the airline's office received a bomb threat via email. The investigation into that case is being handled by authorities in Hyderabad.
Furthermore, this aviation threat comes amidst a wave of similar hoaxes in the region. Just a day earlier, on December 17, at least 30 schools across Ahmedabad city, Ahmedabad Rural, and Gandhinagar, along with Sabarmati Central Jail and Gandhi Ashram, received bomb threats. Cybercrime police stations in the respective jurisdictions are currently investigating those incidents.
The repeated threats have put security agencies on high alert, highlighting the challenges of managing hoax calls and ensuring public safety without causing widespread panic. Investigations into the latest flight threat are ongoing.
