Bihar STF and Nawada Police Arrest PLFI Member in Major Operation
In a significant joint operation, the Bihar Special Task Force (STF) and Nawada police successfully apprehended an active member of the People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI) late on Thursday night. The raid, conducted in Dhelwa village under the Rajauli police station area, led to the seizure of a substantial cache of sophisticated weapons and ammunition.
Details of the Arrest and Seizure
The arrested individual has been identified as Ajeet Kumar (31), a resident of Dilwa village in Rajauli. According to official statements from the STF, Kumar was operating an extensive network involved in extortion and violent activities, specifically targeting contractors and construction workers across the region.
Acting on a precise tip-off received by Nawada Superintendent of Police Abhinav Dhiman, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was promptly formed. This team was led by sub-divisional police officer Gulshan Kumar and included the station in-charge along with STF personnel. The operation was executed on March 12 in Delwa village based on this actionable intelligence.
Recovery of Weapons and Evidence
Following the arrest, police recovered a significant arsenal of weapons and equipment, which included:
- One AK-47 rifle
- Two 315-bore rifles
- Two AK-47 magazines
- 21 AK-47 cartridges
- 10 additional cartridges for the 315-bore rifles
These weapons were cleverly concealed under a mango tree near Kumar's residence. In addition to the firearms, authorities also seized three sets of camouflage uniforms that closely resembled army attire, raising concerns about potential impersonation tactics used by the group.
Interrogation Revelations and Criminal Activities
During interrogation, Ajeet Kumar confessed to using these weapons to intimidate contractors and extort levies in coordination with his organization. He admitted that due to increasing police pressure in the area, he had taken the precaution of hiding the weapons underground to avoid detection.
SP Abhinav Dhiman emphasized the importance of this operation, stating, "The formation of the SIT and the subsequent raid were crucial in dismantling this extortion network that had been terrorizing local contractors and workers. The recovery of such sophisticated weaponry highlights the serious threat posed by these groups."
This operation marks a significant achievement for law enforcement in Bihar, demonstrating their commitment to combating organized crime and ensuring public safety in the region. The investigation continues as authorities work to uncover further connections and activities linked to the PLFI network.
