In a significant breakthrough, the Bhopal police have detained one individual linked to a high-profile theft at an advocate's residence in the upscale Suraj Nagar colony located on Airport Road. The arrest was carried out late on Monday night.
A Well-Planned Operation Unfolds
According to police officials, the crime was not a spur-of-the-moment act but a carefully orchestrated operation. Preliminary investigations suggest the involvement of a gang that conducted detailed reconnaissance of the advocate's house beforehand. The criminals studied the security arrangements and meticulously noted the movement patterns of the pet dogs residing on the property.
The Midnight Heist: Sedating Dogs and Stealing Lakhs
The thieves executed their plan in the early hours of December 26. Between approximately 1:30 am and 3:30 am, armed miscreants gained entry into the house. In a chillingly calculated move to avoid detection, they first fed meat to the pet dogs. Police strongly suspect that sleeping pills were mixed with the meat to pacify the animals and ensure silence during the burglary. The perpetrators then made off with cash and valuables amounting to lakhs of rupees.
Investigation Progress and Suspicions
The police have confirmed that the detained accused is being interrogated to uncover further details about the gang and the stolen items. The modus operandi, involving the sedation of guard dogs and prior surveillance, points to a professional gang familiar with such operations. Authorities are pursuing all leads to apprehend the remaining accomplices and recover the stolen property. The case highlights a worrying trend of targeted, intelligent thefts in affluent neighborhoods.
