Bengaluru Police Uncover Illegal Explosive Operation in Residential Neighborhood
The Bengaluru police have made a significant seizure of explosive materials from a private site in the densely populated Akshayanagar residential layout, raising serious safety concerns among local residents. Acting on a tip-off, authorities discovered and confiscated a cache of dangerous substances that were allegedly being used for unauthorized rock blasting activities.
Details of the Seizure and Illegal Operation
According to police reports, the operation was conducted on Tuesday when a police team rushed to the location following credible information about suspicious activities. During their inspection, officers recovered 15 gelatin sticks and 30 detonators along with other explosive materials from a 100×100 ft private site. The police also seized a tractor and a JCB machine that were allegedly being used for the blasting operations.
Investigations revealed that the rock blasting activity was being carried out between 10.30 am and 2 pm daily in this residential area without obtaining the mandatory permissions required by law. The police noted that daily wage labourers working at the site fled immediately when the police team arrived, leaving behind the dangerous materials and equipment.
Safety Concerns and Legal Action
The discovery of explosive materials being used in a densely populated residential area has raised serious safety concerns among local residents and authorities. Police officials emphasized that the transport and use of such explosives in or near residential areas requires prior approval from relevant authorities and must be supervised by certified experts.
Following the seizure, authorities deployed a bomb disposal squad to examine the site thoroughly and secure the confiscated explosives. The police have registered a case against the site owner, identified as Chandru, under relevant provisions of the Explosives Act. Sources indicate that no proper permissions were obtained for these activities, and no qualified personnel were present at the site during the blasting operations.
Ongoing Investigation and Preventive Measures
Police officials stated that their timely intervention helped prevent a potential mishap that could have endangered lives in the residential neighborhood. An investigation is currently underway to trace the source of the explosives and determine how these materials entered the residential area without proper authorization.
Additional legal action will be initiated based on the findings of the bomb squad's detailed report. The police have emphasized that such unauthorized use of explosives in residential areas constitutes a serious violation of safety protocols and legal requirements designed to protect public welfare.
The Bengaluru police continue to investigate the matter thoroughly to ensure all responsible parties are held accountable under the law and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in residential areas across the city.
