The family of an Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM), whose body was discovered on railway tracks in Bihar's Saran district, has leveled grave allegations of gang-rape and murder against the owner and staff of the private nursing home where she worked. The incident, which came to light on December 26, has prompted a renewed investigation by local police.
Chilling Allegations and the Discovery of the Body
The victim's family has claimed that the young healthcare worker was sexually assaulted and killed by the nursing home owner and two of his associates. They allege that her body was then deliberately placed on the railway tracks in the Bhagwan Bazar police station area to make the death appear accidental or like a suicide. Police had initially registered an Unnatural Death (UD) case following the recovery of the body on December 26.
According to the victim's father, his last conversation with his daughter was at 5 pm on December 25. She informed him that her duty would last until 9 pm that evening and that she was scheduled to resume work at 9 am on December 26. However, the next morning, her mobile phone was switched off, raising immediate concerns.
Timeline of Events and Police Response
The father's anxiety grew when, approximately an hour after trying to reach her, he received a call from the operator of the nursing home. The caller informed him that the ANM had not reported for her morning duty and that her phone was unreachable. This sequence of events has now become a critical part of the family's complaint.
Following the identification of the body, the family submitted a formal application on December 27. In it, they explicitly accused the nursing home operator, a doctor, and his associates of raping and murdering the woman. GRP station in-charge Shahid Anwar Ansari confirmed the developments. "After the body was found in an unknown condition on the railway track, a UD case was registered," Ansari stated. "After this, when the body was identified, an application was received from the family members... A second post-mortem has been conducted on the application of the family. Further investigation will be conducted on the basis of the complaint and autopsy report."
Investigation Takes a New Turn
The police have now ordered a re-autopsy of the body based on the serious allegations made in the formal complaint. This move indicates that investigators are treating the family's claims with seriousness and are looking to gather forensic evidence that could support or refute the theory of sexual assault and homicide. The case has shifted from a routine UD inquiry to a potential murder and rape investigation.
The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and highlights the vulnerabilities faced by healthcare workers, particularly women in private medical establishments. The outcome of the second autopsy and the subsequent police probe will be crucial in determining the course of justice. The family awaits answers, demanding that the alleged perpetrators be held accountable for what they believe was a brutal crime covered up as a tragic accident.
