Ahmedabad Deploys 9,000+ Police for New Year's Eve Security & Traffic Plan
Ahmedabad's Massive NYE Security: 9,000 Personnel Deployed

Ahmedabad police have announced a massive and detailed security blueprint for the upcoming New Year's Eve celebrations, aiming to ensure a safe and orderly transition into 2025. The plan involves the deployment of a formidable force of more than 9,000 police personnel across the city's key locations and anticipated crowd hotspots.

Extensive Bandobast Across Celebration Zones

The security apparatus will be activated from 6 pm on December 31 and will continue its vigil until the early hours of January 1. The police have identified numerous popular zones where large gatherings are expected at churches, shopping malls, hotels, clubs, and private party venues.

Major areas under focus include:

  • Sabarmati Riverfront
  • CG Road and SG Road
  • Sindhu Bhavan Road and Sardar Patel Ring Road
  • Satellite, Vastrapur, and Maninagar
  • Ellisbridge, Gaekwad Haveli, and Amraiwadi

To manage the expected vehicular surge, the authorities have issued specific traffic regulation orders. These include diversions and the notification of alternative routes around the major celebration hubs to prevent gridlock.

High-Tech Surveillance and Specialized Drives

Modern technology will play a crucial role in the night's management. The police will extensively utilize CCTV surveillance and body cameras for effective crowd control and maintaining law and order. Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs), Assistant Commissioners (ACPs), and Police Inspectors (PIs), will be present on the streets until at least 1 am to personally supervise operations.

Special night-long drives will target violations such as drunk driving, speeding, and dangerous bike stunts. A strict vigil will also be maintained on prohibition-related offences, with checks planned on listed bootleggers, history-sheeters, externed persons, and other antisocial elements.

Ensuring Safety for All Revellers

Women's safety has been given paramount importance in the plan. Dedicated She Teams will conduct continuous patrolling in crowded areas to provide assistance and deter harassment. Simultaneously, teams from the Crime Branch and the Special Operations Group (SOG) will carry out checks at hotels, clubs, guest houses, and isolated locations.

For emergency response, bomb detection and disposal squads (BDDS) and quick response teams (QRTs) will be on standby throughout the city. This multi-layered strategy, combining visible presence, technological aid, and specialized forces, is designed to allow citizens to celebrate the New Year with peace of mind.
