Patna: Man shot by motorcycle criminals in Barh

A man was brutally shot by criminals on a motorcycle in Patna district on Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves through the local community. The victim, identified as Gorelal Yadav, sustained critical gunshot wounds while returning from his agricultural field.

Morning Attack on Kaima Road

The violent incident occurred around 7:30 am on Kaima Road, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Saksohra police station in the Barh sub-division. Gorelal Yadav was accompanied by his brother-in-law, Rajballabh Yadav, when three assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire on them.

According to police officials, the attackers fired three bullets. Two of these bullets struck Gorelal in the head, while a third hit him in the upper abdomen. Rajballabh Yadav, the other person present, escaped physical injury but is a key witness to the crime.

Police Investigation and Immediate Response

Upon receiving the alert, police personnel swiftly arrived at the scene. Anand Kumar Singh, the SDPO-I of Barh, took charge of the initial investigation. The seriously injured Gorelal was first taken to the Barh sub-divisional hospital for urgent first aid.

Due to the severity of his injuries, doctors at the hospital referred him to a higher medical facility in Patna. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city, where his condition is being closely monitored.

The police forensic team was summoned to the crime scene to collect crucial evidence. Three empty bullet shells were recovered from the spot, and blood samples were gathered for analysis.

Probing the Motive and Gathering Evidence

Senior police officer Anand Kumar Singh stated that a multi-pronged investigation is underway. Authorities are exploring all possible angles to identify the attackers and determine the motive behind the shooting.

"We are investigating the case using technical evidence, reviewing CCTV footage from nearby areas, and gathering manual intelligence inputs by questioning local residents," Singh said.

While the exact reason for the attack remains unconfirmed, preliminary lines of inquiry point toward potential land disputes or personal enmity. The police are recording statements from the victim's family and plan to question Gorelal once his medical condition stabilizes.

Rajballabh Yadav, who was present during the attack, is also being questioned extensively to help create identikits of the motorcycle-borne criminals. The police hope his account will provide vital clues to track down the perpetrators.

This shocking daylight attack has raised concerns about law and order in the area, with residents calling for a swift arrest of the culprits and increased police patrols.
