Adheenam Recovers Temple Land from Encroachers in Trichy

Trichy: Dharmapuram Adheenam has reclaimed 1.5 acres of temple land and several housing plots that had been under private encroachment in the city. The properties belong to Arulmigu Thiru Uyyakondan Thirumalai UjjeevaNathar Swamy Temple, which is administered by the Adheenam.

Encroachments Identified Along Vayalur Road

Officials said the encroachments were identified at multiple locations along Vayalur Road. Following information about fresh encroachment attempts, including on a plot in Vasan Valley, Adheenam administrators Guru and Haridas inspected the temple land. During the inspection, they found encroachments on 1.5 acres in Shanmuga Nagar and Vasan Valley.

Reclamation and Preventive Measures

The Adheenam later reclaimed the properties and installed notice boards asserting ownership and warning against further encroachments. Administrator Guru said more temple properties were still under encroachment. "Steps are being taken to identify and recover all such land parcels," he said, adding that the Adheenam was committed to protecting temple assets.

The reclamation is part of wider efforts by religious institutions in Tamil Nadu to retrieve illegally occupied properties. This proactive approach aims to safeguard temple resources and ensure they are used for religious and community purposes. The Adheenam has urged the public to report any suspicious activities on temple land to prevent future encroachments.
