Massive Absenteeism Marks Bihar Police SI Exam in Buxar

On Sunday, the written examination for selecting sub-inspectors in Bihar witnessed a significant turnout issue. Over 3,000 registered aspirants decided to skip the test entirely. The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission conducted this crucial recruitment drive across the district.

District Administration Ensures Smooth Process

District Magistrate Sahila took personal charge to monitor the examination's conduct. She inspected multiple test centers throughout the day. The DM issued clear instructions to all officials involved in the process.

Magistrates, police officers, center superintendents and invigilators received direct orders. They were told to remain extremely vigilant. Their primary task was to guarantee a completely fair and peaceful examination environment. Preventing any form of malpractice was declared a top priority.

Detailed Attendance Numbers Reveal Scale

Official data from the district control room provides a clear picture of the attendance. The examination was held in two separate shifts.

  • First Shift: A total of 7,104 candidates were registered for this session. Out of these, 5,346 aspirants actually appeared for the test. The number of absentees stood at 1,758. Authorities confirmed that no candidate faced expulsion during this shift.
  • Second Shift: This session also had 7,104 registered candidates. Here, 5,552 individuals took the examination. The count of those who did not show up was 1,552.

When combining both shifts, the total absentee figure crosses 3,300. This represents a substantial portion of the registered applicant pool.

Special Security and Transport Measures Implemented

In anticipation of large candidate movement, the administration made special arrangements. Security was notably heightened at the Buxar railway station.

Railway Traffic Inspector Vindhyachal Pandey explained the logistical efforts. "We operated special train services to ensure safe travel for approximately 14,000 aspirants," he stated. The route facilitated movement between Ara and Patna.

Pandey highlighted the dual reasons for the heavy rush. The police examination coincided with the religious occasion of Mauni Amavasya. To manage this, the railways deployed a special 16-coach MEMU train.

This train made two key trips:

  1. It departed at 2 PM, catering to candidates who had finished the first shift.
  2. A second departure at 5 PM served those completing the second shift.

The combined efforts of district and railway officials aimed to create a seamless experience. Despite the high number of absentees, the examination itself proceeded without major reported disruptions.
