1 Dead, 3 Injured in Faridabad New Year Car Crash

A joyous New Year's celebration turned into a nightmare for four friends when their speeding car crashed violently near the Bata Chowk metro station in Faridabad in the early hours of Thursday. The horrific accident resulted in one fatality and left three others with grievous injuries.

The Fateful Early Morning Crash

The incident occurred around 3:30 am on January 1. According to the Central Faridabad police, a Maruti Suzuki Baleno, carrying four youths from the NIT area, was travelling at a very high speed from the Delhi side towards the Ballabhgarh-Agra road. As the vehicle approached near the Bata Chowk metro station, the driver reportedly lost control.

The car first smashed into a road divider, causing it to flip over three to four times. The out-of-control vehicle then rammed into an iron grille with tremendous force. The impact was so severe that it tore the car apart, leaving it completely mangled. Debris, including the car's battery, a tyre, and seats, were flung onto the carriageway.

Victims and Immediate Aftermath

One of the occupants, identified as Saransh (25), sustained critical injuries in the crash. He succumbed to his wounds approximately half an hour after the accident. The other three friends suffered serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they remain under treatment.

Local residents were among the first to respond to the scene. They helped pull the trapped youths from the wreckage and immediately alerted the police. Ambulances arrived shortly after and transported the injured to the hospital.

A friend of the group, who arrived at the spot after receiving a call, revealed that the four had been at home until around midnight before deciding to go out. "I was asleep when they left. Around 3:30 am, I got a call informing me about the accident. When I reached there, I came to know that Saransh died," he said.

Police Investigation and Ongoing Probe

Police officials stated that initial findings clearly point to excessive speed as the cause of the accident. "The vehicle was being driven at a very high speed from the Neelam flyover side. The driver, obviously, lost control," an official from the Central Faridabad police station confirmed.

The police have sent Saransh's body for a post-mortem examination and have registered a case. The investigation is also looking into whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Authorities are examining all other possible factors that could have contributed to this tragic New Year's accident.
