Patna Medical College Hospital to Get Direct Flyover Link via New Ramp

In a significant infrastructure development, Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) is poised to receive a direct connection to the city's double-decker flyover. Construction is currently in progress on a dedicated ramp that will link the hospital with the flyover, bridging a gap of approximately 75 to 100 meters between the two structures.

Project Details and Construction Progress

The ambitious project, being executed by the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited (BRPNNL), involves the construction of three ramps in total. According to officials, two of these ramps will connect to the upper deck of the flyover, while one will link to the lower deck. Currently, work on one ramp is advancing rapidly, with girder installation and slab covering operations underway.

An anonymous BRPNNL engineer provided insights into the project, stating, "This will be the first ramp to provide connectivity from the double-decker flyover to PMCH. There is a comprehensive plan to build ramps at three locations to integrate them with the multi-level car parking facility under construction at the hospital."

Location and Connectivity Features

The ramp is being constructed on the east side of Anjuman Islamia Hall, strategically positioned to facilitate seamless access from the flyover to PMCH. It will directly connect to the hospital's multi-level car parking, which is also in development. To support this integration, three supporting pillars are being erected within the hospital campus.

Additionally, authorities have planned two more access points to enhance connectivity:

  • One on either side of Anjuman Islamia Hall
  • Another near Gate No. 2 of the hospital

Expected Benefits and Completion Timeline

The new link is anticipated to bring multiple benefits to the area:

  1. Improved Traffic Management: Authorities expect the ramp to alleviate congestion along Ashok Rajpath and streamline traffic flow around PMCH.
  2. Enhanced Accessibility: Once operational, patients and visitors will enjoy faster, more direct access to PMCH, one of Bihar's largest government hospitals.
  3. Urban Mobility Boost: This development is part of a broader initiative to upgrade infrastructure around key institutions in Patna, reflecting the city's commitment to improved urban mobility and healthcare accessibility.

The ramp is expected to be completed next month, marking a significant milestone in Patna's infrastructure landscape. The BRPNNL engineer emphasized, "This project underscores our push towards creating more efficient transportation networks that serve critical public facilities like hospitals."
