Patna Commissioner Inspects Drain Projects, Orders Action

Patna Commissioner Conducts Inspection of Key Drainage Projects

Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) commissioner and managing director of Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL), Yashpal Meena, carried out a detailed inspection of the Kurji Nala, Bakerganj Nala, and Rajvanshi Nagar pump houses on Wednesday. The visit aimed to monitor construction progress and enhance coordination among involved departments.

Directives for Stalled Work and Micro-Plans

During the inspection, Meena ordered officials to submit individual micro-plans for 11 identified locations where work has been stalled. These delays are primarily due to narrow passages and encroachments, which hinder construction activities. The commissioner emphasized the need for swift action to overcome these obstacles.

Progress on Bakerganj Nala Project

The Bakerganj Nala project involves converting 1,463 metres of open drain into a concrete box drain between Uma Cinema and Anta Ghat. According to project data, 60% of the work has been completed. However, approximately 200 metres of road and drain construction work still remain. Meena instructed officials to accelerate efforts to finish this pending work efficiently.

Formation of Joint Team and Monsoon Preparedness

Meena directed the formation of a joint team comprising members from PSCL and Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited. This team is tasked with submitting daily progress reports to ensure transparency and accountability. Additionally, the commissioner ordered the deployment of additional labour to clear silt and debris from the sites before the monsoon season arrives, aiming to prevent potential flooding and waterlogging issues.

Specific Instructions for Kurji Nala and Rajvanshi Nagar

At the Kurji Nala site, Meena issued strict directives that desilted waste must be removed within 24 hours, followed by anti-larva spraying to control mosquito breeding. For the Rajvanshi Nagar pump house, he ordered the immediate completion of the demolition of the old structure and the proper disposal of resulting debris. During the inspection, Meena also directed the withholding of salaries of officers responsible for delays in the demolition process, underscoring the importance of timely execution.

Officials Present During Inspection

Technical and administrative officials from the Nutan Rajdhani and Patliputra circles accompanied commissioner Yashpal Meena during the site visits. Their presence facilitated on-the-spot assessments and decision-making to address any immediate concerns related to the projects.
