New MEMU Train Service Approved for Delhi-Faridabad Route

New Delhi: Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has given the green light for a new Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) rail service connecting Delhi and Faridabad. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, who stated that the service will bring significant relief to the thousands of commuters who travel between the two cities on a daily basis.

Addressing Commuter Woes

CM Gupta highlighted that a large number of residents from Faridabad and surrounding areas journey to Delhi for work, education, business, and other purposes. For an extended period, regular passengers and local residents have been demanding additional and more convenient rail connectivity. The existing transport network is under heavy strain, leading to frequent overcrowding, delays, and inconvenience for commuters.

Double-Engine Government’s Push

According to the Chief Minister, transport and connectivity projects in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are gaining momentum under the 'double-engine government.' The new MEMU service is expected not only to save travel time for passengers but also to alleviate pressure on road traffic, contributing to smoother and more efficient daily commutes.
