Kanpur District Administration Establishes Control Room for LPG Cylinder Grievances

In a proactive move to tackle issues related to the supply of LPG gas cylinders, the Kanpur district administration has officially launched a dedicated control room and call centre. This initiative aims to provide a streamlined platform for consumers to register complaints and report problems concerning both domestic and commercial gas cylinders.

Official Contact Numbers for Complaint Registration

Additional District Magistrate (Civil Supplies) Rajesh Kumar announced that the control room is now operational with two authorized contact points. Consumers can lodge their grievances via landline at 0512-2988763 or through WhatsApp on 6394616122. Kumar emphasized that these are the only numbers sanctioned for this purpose, urging the public to use them exclusively for LPG-related issues to ensure efficient and systematic complaint resolution.

He clarified that the department is committed to taking prompt action on all complaints received through these channels. The control room is designed to handle information regarding gas supply disruptions as well as incidents of black marketing, providing a centralized system for monitoring and addressing consumer concerns.

Assurance of Adequate Gas Supply and Monitoring

Contrary to rumors of shortages, Kumar asserted that there is no deficit of domestic gas cylinders in Kanpur district. He confirmed that adequate supplies are being consistently received and distributed. Supporting this claim, District Supply Officer Rakesh Kumar provided detailed statistics on cylinder distribution.

From February 1 to February 11, an average of approximately 20,000 cylinders were supplied daily. This figure saw an increase to an average of more than 21,000 cylinders per day between March 1 and March 12, indicating a steady and improving supply chain. The administration is continuously overseeing the gas supply system to maintain this momentum and prevent any disruptions.

Initial Response and Complaint Resolution

The control room, set up in the district supply office, has already begun receiving public feedback. On March 13 alone, it registered a total of 222 complaints, comprising 130 via landline and 92 through WhatsApp. Out of these, around 79 complaints were successfully resolved, demonstrating the administration's commitment to addressing issues promptly.

This initiative reflects the district administration's efforts to enhance transparency and accountability in LPG cylinder distribution. By establishing a direct line of communication with consumers, authorities aim to curb malpractices like black marketing while ensuring a reliable supply of essential fuel to households and businesses across Kanpur.
