A delegation of probationary officers from the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS) recently undertook a significant visit to one of India's industrial landmarks. The group, comprising officer trainees of the 2022 batch currently posted in Jharkhand, spent a day at the Bokaro Steel Plant (BSL), a flagship unit of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

The visit, organized on Thursday, was designed as a practical exposure tour for the future administrators. The officers were given a comprehensive overview of the integrated steel plant's massive operations. The trainees explored the Cold Rolling Mill (CRM), a sophisticated facility that processes basic steel into high-value finished products. They also witnessed the operations of the Blast Furnace, the heart of primary steelmaking, and the Steel Melting Shop (SMS), where raw iron is transformed into steel. The tour extended to the New Plate Mill, showcasing the plant's capability in producing heavy steel plates.
