Haryana Government Mandates Direct Bank Transfer for All Welfare Schemes on 10th of Every Month
In a significant move to enhance transparency and efficiency, the Haryana government has announced a major overhaul in the disbursement of welfare benefits. The state administration has decided to streamline the process by ensuring that all subsidies, pensions, and other financial assistance under various welfare schemes are released directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts on the 10th of every month through the Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) system.
Strict Compliance Ordered for All Departments
Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, in a directive issued on Friday, has instructed all administrative secretaries, heads of departments, managing directors, and chief administrators of boards and corporations, along with divisional commissioners and deputy commissioners, to ensure strict adherence to the new guidelines. The order emphasizes that this measure is aimed at guaranteeing timely and transparent delivery of welfare benefits to eligible recipients across the state.
Comprehensive Coverage of Schemes
The new system will apply to all subsidies, pensions, and financial assistance provided under various government schemes, including those administered by boards and corporations. By centralizing the disbursement process, the government seeks to eliminate delays and reduce the potential for errors or mismanagement. This initiative is expected to benefit millions of citizens who rely on these welfare programs for financial support.
Formal Function at Haryana Niwas
To facilitate and formalize the process, the government has also decided to organize a monthly function on the 10th of every month at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh. During this event, the release of funds will be executed by the competent authority through a single command or press of a button, symbolizing the streamlined and efficient nature of the new system. This public ceremony is intended to underscore the government's commitment to accountability and prompt service delivery.
Benefits of the Direct Bank Transfer System
The implementation of the DBT system offers several advantages:
- Timely Disbursement: By fixing the release date to the 10th of each month, beneficiaries can plan their finances more effectively, knowing exactly when to expect their funds.
- Enhanced Transparency: Direct transfers to bank accounts reduce the risk of leakage or corruption, ensuring that the full amount reaches the intended recipients without intermediaries.
- Improved Efficiency: Automating the process minimizes administrative burdens and paperwork, allowing government departments to focus on other critical tasks.
- Greater Accessibility: With funds deposited directly into bank accounts, beneficiaries, especially in rural areas, can access their money conveniently through banking channels.
This reform aligns with broader national efforts to digitize welfare distribution and promote financial inclusion. The Haryana government's proactive approach is set to serve as a model for other states looking to optimize their social security networks.
