GIS Survey Launched for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Metropolitan Region Development

The Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Metropolitan Regional Development Authority has initiated a comprehensive Geographic Information System survey covering its entire jurisdiction. This ambitious project aims to map and analyze the current status of infrastructure across 311 villages to guide future development plans.

Pilot Project Covers Five Strategic Villages

The survey has commenced with a pilot launch covering five key villages: Mauje Sahajapur, Balapur, Shendra Jahangir, Kagjipura, and Farola. These locations represent the initial phase of what will eventually become a complete assessment of all villages under CSMRDA authority.

A private consulting agency has been formally appointed to conduct this critical survey work. The agency will be responsible for collecting essential data from various government and semi-government offices, conducting thorough site inspections, and documenting conditions through photographic evidence where necessary.

Comprehensive Infrastructure Assessment Planned

According to CSMRDA commissioner and divisional commissioner Jitendra Papalkar, "The GIS survey is currently underway to ensure comprehensive future development of villages within the metropolitan region and provide them with essential infrastructure."

The authority has undertaken the significant task of preparing detailed reports and maps that will depict the current status of:

  • Physical infrastructure including roads, buildings, and utilities
  • Social infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, and community facilities
  • Economic infrastructure supporting local businesses and industries

Multi-Departmental Cooperation Required

During a recent review meeting chaired by Commissioner Papalkar, various government departments were specifically asked to support the survey initiative by assisting the appointed private agency. This inter-departmental cooperation is considered essential for gathering accurate and comprehensive data.

The consulting agency representatives will systematically collect necessary information from multiple sources before conducting in-depth analysis of the physical, social, and economic infrastructure across all 311 villages spanning five talukas.

Strategic Importance of CSMRDA Region

The CSMRDA encompasses parts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Phulambri, Gangapur, Paithan, and Khuldabad talukas. This region holds particular strategic importance as it includes the Aurangabad Industrial City, known as AURIC, which is developing as part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor.

Notably, AURIC has attracted multi-crore investments and is emerging as a major hub for electric vehicle manufacturing, adding economic significance to the comprehensive GIS survey now underway. The data collected through this initiative will directly inform development planning for this rapidly industrializing region.

The GIS survey represents a forward-looking approach to metropolitan planning, utilizing modern technology to create accurate baselines for infrastructure development decisions that will shape the region's growth for years to come.
