Census 2027 Phase 1 Begins in Punjab with Self-Enumeration

The first phase of Census 2027 commenced across Punjab on Thursday, with principal census officer-cum-deputy commissioners initiating the process by self-enumerating their credentials on the official portal.

Self-Enumeration Drive Launched

In Bathinda, 100-year-old election icon Dalip Kaur from Bir Talab village completed her self-enumeration, while Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman also opted for self-enumeration via the portal se.census.gov.in. A toll-free helpline number, 1855, has been made operational for the census.

Phase 1 Details

Under the first phase, self-enumeration will be conducted from April 30 to May 14. From May 15 to June 13, enumerators will visit every household and ask 33 questions. Those who have completed self-enumeration will be required to provide their self-enumeration number. The enumerator will then verify the information uploaded by the family.

Cyber Fraud Warning

A senior official cautioned citizens against cyber thugs, stating, "One should be aware of cyber thugs. No one would be asked for personal details like Aadhaar, PAN card, driving licence or bank number. Citizens need to ensure that they remain immune to any digital forgery by staying alert."

Inauguration in Barnala

In Barnala, Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh and SSP Md Sarfaraz Alam completed their self-enumeration on the portal, formally inaugurating the campaign. They appealed to all residents of the district to actively participate and complete their self-enumeration.
