The first phase of the national-level Census is set to commence in Kolhapur from Friday, May 1. As part of this process, self-enumeration will be conducted during the initial phase from May 1 to May 15, and a dedicated mobile application has been developed to facilitate this.
From May 16 to June 15, enumerators will visit households door-to-door to collect information from citizens. On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, the administration has planned to fill in the details of ministers, MLAs, and MPs of the district through the app. The Census will be conducted in two phases: the first phase this year and the second phase in 2027.
Gajanan Gurav, the district Census officer and resident deputy collector, explained, "In the first phase, self-enumeration will be carried out. Citizens must complete the Census between May 1 and May 15. They need to fill their information on the website se.census.go.in or through the app. After submitting the information, an SCID number will be generated. Subsequently, Census personnel will conduct house-to-house visits from May 16 to June 15 to collect the data."
No payment is required for this process. Gurav added, "No one should be paid for filling in information on the website. There is no alternative mechanism to submit the information. Citizens must fill in the details themselves. Therefore, they should not fall prey to any fraudulent agents and should avoid paying any money for this."
The tehsil-wise blocks for the Census are as follows: Shahuwadi - 266, Panhala - 412, Hatkanangle - 883, Shirol - 682, Karvir - 808, Gaganbawada - 63, Radhanagari - 300, Kagal - 427, Bhudargad - 268, Ajara - 215, Gadhinglaj - 356, Chandgad - 321, totaling 5,001 blocks in Kolhapur district.
