Suryakiran Aerobatic Team to Paint Himachal Skies in Historic First Display

In a landmark event for military education in India, the skies above Sainik School Sujanpur Tira in Himachal Pradesh's Hamirpur district will witness their first-ever aerial spectacle. The Suryakiran Aerobatic Team of the Indian Air Force, renowned as the "Ambassadors of the Indian Air Force," is scheduled to perform a breathtaking display on March 25 and 26. This historic show promises to blend precision flying with patriotic fervor, creating an unforgettable experience for the school's community.

Inspiring Young Minds Through Aerial Excellence

Guided by their motto Sadaiva Sarvottam (Always the Best), the nine-aircraft formation will execute a series of spectacular maneuvers. Flying the iconic red-and-white indigenously manufactured Hawk Mk 132 jets, the team will showcase:

  • Elegant loops and thrilling barrel rolls
  • Gravity-defying inverted flying
  • The crowd-favorite DNA maneuver

What makes these displays particularly awe-inspiring is the extraordinary flying skill demonstrated by the 14 pilots, who sometimes fly less than five meters apart. For the 517 students watching from the ground, these jets represent more than just aircraft—they symbolize dreams of serving the nation taking flight.

A School with a Proud Legacy of Service

Established in 1978, Sainik School Sujanpur Tira has already produced more than 600 officers for India's defense forces. The timing of this aerial display holds special significance as it honors the memory of Wing Commander Namansh Syal, a 36-year-old distinguished alumnus who made the supreme sacrifice while demonstrating the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas at the Dubai Air Show on November 21 last year.

Principal Group Captain Rachna Joshi confirmed this much-awaited show, noting that the excitement among students is particularly well-justified. This year alone, seven students have already been recommended by the Service Selection Board to join the armed forces as officers.

The Suryakiran Team's Distinguished History

Formed in 1996, the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team has completed over 800 displays and represented India at international air shows across Asia and the Middle East. Their performance at Sainik School Sujanpur Tira marks another milestone in their journey of showcasing Indian aviation excellence.

This event not only celebrates aerial prowess but also reinforces the connection between military training institutions and the armed forces they serve. As the jets soar above the school campus, they carry with them the aspirations of future defenders of the nation, making this more than just an air show—it's a powerful statement of commitment to national service.
