Noida Airport Gears Up with Comprehensive Transport Network for May Inauguration
As the highly anticipated Noida International Airport at Jewar prepares to commence commercial flight operations in May, authorities are focusing intensely on solving the critical first and last-mile connectivity challenge for passengers. The journey to and from the terminal is being addressed through a robust, multi-modal transport strategy.
State-Run Bus Services Form Backbone of Connectivity
In a significant move to bridge the transportation gap, UP Roadways has finalized plans to operate frequent bus services. Buses will depart from Pari Chowk to the airport every 30 minutes, while services originating from Noida City Centre will run hourly. Shailendra Bhatia, nodal officer at Noida International Airport Ltd (NIAL), emphasized the commitment to seamless travel. "From day one, the airport will offer a wide spectrum of mobility options, including intercity buses, long-haul coaches, airport taxis, cab aggregators, and ample parking. We are dedicated to ensuring smooth transit to and from the airport," he stated.
NIAL has entered into formal agreements with several state transport corporations to establish direct bus links with major urban centers:
- Uttarakhand Transport Corporation will connect the airport to Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, and Haldwani.
- Haryana Roadways will provide services to Chandigarh, Gurgaon, Faridabad, and Palwal.
- Delhi Transport Corporation will operate buses from key transit hubs including Kashmere Gate, Sarai Kale Khan, Anand Vihar, and New Delhi railway stations.
UP Roadways, which already manages a fleet of nearly 300 CNG buses from depots in Noida and Greater Noida, will constitute the core of the last-mile services. Initially, these buses will operate from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM daily.
Private Partnerships and Shuttle Services Enhance Accessibility
Complementing the state transport initiatives, NIAL is also organizing shuttle links from pivotal NCR locations such as:
- Noida and Greater Noida
- Botanical Garden metro station
- Ghaziabad
- Akshardham Temple in Delhi
For taxi services, NIAL has partnered with Mahindra Logistics. Additionally, app-based mobility providers like Uber, Ola, and Rapido, along with travel agencies such as MakeMyTrip, will facilitate on-demand bookings. The precise deployment of these cab services will be finalized as the launch date approaches.
Long-Distance Luxury Coach Services for Tourists and Travelers
To cater to long-distance passengers, RedBus will introduce luxury coach services to prominent destinations including:
- Mathura and Agra
- Lucknow
- Dehradun
- Chandigarh
- Jaipur
These services will accommodate individual travelers, groups, tourism packages, and charter demands, providing a comprehensive travel solution.
Community Relief and Final Regulatory Clearances
Local residents have expressed considerable relief regarding the planned transport options. Jewar is situated approximately 65 kilometers from central Noida, making connectivity a paramount concern. "The bus links will be a tremendous relief because reaching the airport conveniently is just as crucial as catching the flight on time," remarked a resident from Greater Noida.
On the regulatory front, officials indicated that the airport's Aerodrome Security Programme certification from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security is anticipated within the coming week. This certification represents a critical final step before operations can officially begin, marking the culmination of extensive preparatory efforts.
