Prime Minister Modi's Spiritual Journey to Goa and Karnataka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a significant spiritual tour on Thursday, November 28, 2025, participating in major religious events across two states. The day began with a massive gathering in Karnataka followed by historic inaugurations in Goa, drawing thousands of devotees from across the nation.

Udupi's Grand Gita Recitation

The Prime Minister commenced his day at the Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, Karnataka, where he participated in the Laksha Kantha Gita Parayana program. This devotional gathering witnessed approximately 100,000 participants, including students, monks, scholars, and citizens from various backgrounds, collectively reciting the Srimad Bhagavad Gita in unison.

During his Udupi visit, PM Modi inaugurated the Suvarna Teertha Mantapa located in front of the Krishna sanctum and dedicated the Kanaka Kavacha for the sacred Kanakana Kindi. This historic window holds special significance as it's believed that saint Kanakadasa had divine darshan of Lord Krishna through it.

Goa's Historic Celebrations

Later in the day, the Prime Minister traveled to South Goa to participate in the 550th anniversary celebrations of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math. The highlight of this visit was the inauguration of Asia's tallest 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Ram, designed by renowned sculptor Ram V Sutar.

According to S Mukund Kamath, Joint Convenor of the Organising Committee, more than 15,000 people attended the Goa event, with expectations of over 1.2 lakh visitors during the 11-day celebration period. The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Ramayana Theme Park developed by the Math and released a special postal stamp and commemorative coin.

Cultural Significance and Heritage

The Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math holds immense historical importance as the first Gowd Saraswat Brahmin Vaishnava Math. Established in Partagali, South Goa, on the banks of river Kushavati, the Math follows the Dvaita order established by Jagadguru Madhvacharya in the 13th century AD.

The 11-day celebration features cultural programs with performances by renowned artists including Shankar Mahadevan and Anup Jalota. PM Modi addressed the gathering, emphasizing the cultural and spiritual significance of these events in preserving India's rich heritage.

Before his visits, the Prime Minister expressed his honor at participating in these events, particularly noting the special significance of Sri Krishna Matha in Udupi, which has been serving society for over 800 years since its establishment by Sri Madhvacharya.
