The city of Lucknow recently witnessed a vibrant celebration of ability and creativity at the Purple Fair, an event dedicated to marking the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Held on Thursday, the fair became a platform where a diverse array of handmade products, crafts, and innovations by differently-abled participants earned widespread admiration from visitors.
A Collaborative Effort for Inclusivity
The event was organized by the National Academy of Direct Taxes, Regional Campus (NADT RC), in partnership with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). This collaboration aimed to highlight and support the talents of persons with disabilities, turning the fair into a powerful symbol of community and institutional support.
Beyond the exhibition stalls, the fair was alive with cultural performances. Children from various non-governmental organizations took to the stage, presenting acts that celebrated the core themes of the day: inclusivity, talent, and empowerment. The atmosphere was one of joy and shared respect for diverse abilities.

Uttar Pradesh's Social Welfare Minister, Asim Arun, graced the occasion with his presence and insights. He addressed the gathering, stating that such initiatives embody the true spirit of social welfare. "These collaborations reflect the true essence of social welfare—where the government, institutions, and the community work together to ensure no one is left behind," Minister Arun remarked.
He further added, "The Purple Fair unites us, deepens our understanding of each other, and motivates us to move forward together with empathy and collaboration." His words underscored the event's mission to foster a more inclusive society.
