Delhi Art Society Unveils Major Exhibition 'Samanvaya' Featuring 25 Senior Artists
The Delhi Art Society, in partnership with the India International Centre, has officially inaugurated the exhibition and catalogue launch of Samanvaya: Line · Colour · Form – Dialogues in Contemporary Indian Art. This significant cultural event is curated by the esteemed Jyoti A Kathpalia and aims to highlight the diverse and vibrant voices within India's contemporary art scene.
Minister Emphasizes Need for Stronger Art Ecosystem
The exhibition catalogue was formally released by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, a prominent minister, who was joined by the renowned artist Rameshwar Broota. In his address to the assembled guests, Shekhawat articulated the urgent necessity to fortify the infrastructure supporting contemporary art and sculpture across India. He underscored that persistent and dedicated efforts are essential for Indian art to achieve a more influential and recognized position on the global stage.
Shekhawat also extended recognition to Neeraj Gupta for his unwavering support of artists and his pivotal role in advancing contemporary artistic practices. In response, Gupta reaffirmed the Delhi Art Society's steadfast commitment to showcasing meaningful and impactful artistic expressions that resonate with both local and international audiences.
Curator Highlights Personal and Collective Artistic Dialogues
Curator Jyoti A Kathpalia provided insights into the exhibition's thematic core, explaining that Samanvaya reflects a harmonious blend of individual artistic expression and shared societal concerns. She noted that while each participating artist possesses a unique and distinct stylistic approach, their collective works converge to create a broader, more profound dialogue about contemporary life and artistic innovation in India.

The exhibition proudly presents an impressive array of works by 25 senior artists hailing from various regions of India, encompassing a wide spectrum of mediums including:

Among the notable contributors are Aashima Mehrotra, who delves into abstraction and intricate textures; Shruti Chandra Gupta, who presents complex, layered narratives through her art; and Anju Kaushik, who focuses on conveying deep emotional expression through the strategic use of color.
