In a significant move to highlight the city's rich historical legacy, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced an ambitious plan to construct nine grand ceremonial gates across Bhopal. The gates will be dedicated to great Indian rulers and cultural icons, aiming to showcase the city's historic character.
Plan for Nine Grand Gates Unveiled
The announcement was made by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday during a felicitation ceremony. The event was organized by MLA Rameshwar Sharma and residents of the Huzur Assembly constituency at Samatva Bhavan. The CM stated that coordinated efforts would be undertaken to implement this vision, which focuses on celebrating India's glorious past and its influential figures.
Each of the nine gates will be built on various major roads in the capital city and named after legendary personalities. The project is designed to showcase the legacies of great men and their contributions to Indian culture and governance.
Vikramaditya Gate to Lead the Way
The first of these gates to commence construction will be the one named after the great Emperor Vikramaditya. The groundbreaking ceremony for this gate is scheduled for December 13. This date holds special significance as it marks the completion of two thousand years of his rule being celebrated in the capital.
CM Yadav highlighted that Emperor Vikramaditya is globally renowned for his model of good governance, and this gate will serve as a tribute to his remarkable administration. The Chief Minister had previously performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Bhoj-Narmada Gate, indicating the ongoing nature of this heritage initiative.
Connecting Heritage with National Pride
During his speech, the Chief Minister also paid homage to Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on Nirvan Diwas, remembering him as the architect of the Indian constitution. He linked the current development trajectory with the nation's heritage, stating that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, development alongside heritage preservation is progressing rapidly in the world's largest democracy.
Yadav wove a tapestry of India's cultural and spiritual heritage in his address. He mentioned the joy in Ayodhya, the spiritual essence of Kashi and Mahakal, and noted that Lord Krishna received his education in Madhya Pradesh at Acharya Sandipani's ashram, which remains a state heritage. He cited the friendship between Krishna and Sudama as an eternal example of bonding beyond social strata.
Other gates planned in the series will revive the memory of Emperor Ashoka and highlight the world-famous heritage site of Sanchi. The overarching goal is for each gate to distinctly reflect the spirit and values of Indian culture, turning Bhopal into a living museum of the nation's historical and cultural journey.
