A 32-year-old government veterinarian died by suicide at a veterinary hospital near Trichy on Tuesday, with depression cited as the likely cause. The deceased, identified as A Prakash, a native of Adaikampatti in Perambalur district, was employed at the government veterinary hospital in Vengadathanur.
Background of the Deceased
According to sources, Prakash and his wife, Praveena (29), had been married for four years and had no children. He had been suffering from depression for the past two years and was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Trichy.
Incident Details
On Tuesday morning, Prakash went to work as usual at the veterinary hospital. Around 11 am, employees discovered him hanging in his room. He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Legal Proceedings
The Thuraiyur police have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), which pertains to unnatural death. An autopsy was conducted at Thuraiyur Government Hospital, after which the body was handed over to his family. Further investigation is underway.
