On Thursday, the health department of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) took decisive action by sealing a food outlet named Barbecue World, situated near Panjrapol Crossroads in Ambawadi. The enforcement followed a complaint lodged by a customer who discovered an insect in the food served at the eatery.
Complaint and Immediate Action
The complaint was registered through the Citizens' Complaint Redressal System (CCRS), specifically stating that an insect was found in the food provided to a customer. Acting promptly on this report, the AMC health department dispatched a team to conduct an on-site investigation. Health officials thoroughly inspected the premises, including the kitchen and storage areas.
Inspection Findings
During the inquiry, the inspection team discovered that the kitchen and storage facilities were maintained in a highly unhygienic condition. Furthermore, live insects were detected on the premises, which constitutes a serious violation of food safety and hygiene standards. The presence of live insects indicated a systemic neglect of cleanliness protocols.
In light of these findings and the potential risk to public health, the AMC health department decided to seal the Barbecue World outlet with immediate effect. The closure aims to prevent any further risk to customers and to enforce compliance with health regulations.
Public Health Concerns
The sealing of the outlet underscores the AMC's commitment to upholding food safety norms in Ahmedabad. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any similar concerns to the authorities. The AMC has reiterated that strict action will be taken against establishments that fail to maintain hygiene standards.
