RMLNLU's Annual Riwaayat Fest Showcases Cultural Brilliance and Social Advocacy
Lucknow witnessed a spectacular display of talent and social consciousness as students of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University (RMLNLU) hosted their annual cultural festival, Riwaayat, on Thursday. The event transformed the campus into a vibrant hub of artistic expression, drawing large crowds of students, faculty members, and distinguished guests who gathered to enjoy an evening of open-air theatrical performances and musical renditions.
A Fusion of Tradition and Contemporary Themes
The festival presented a rich and colourful mix of performances, seamlessly blending classical dance and music with modern street plays, known locally as nukkad natak. What set this year's Riwaayat apart was the deliberate infusion of socially relevant themes into every act. As law students, the participants ensured their cultural celebration carried profound messages aimed at sparking dialogue and awareness.
"We designed our performances to not only entertain but also educate and inspire," explained Rishi Shukla, a student organizer. "Our compelling narratives were rooted in critical issues such as gender equality, mental health awareness, environmental conservation, and broader societal responsibility. This approach reflects our commitment to using art as a tool for social change."
Competitive Spirit and Artistic Excellence
The competitive segments of Riwaayat saw enthusiastic participation from various institutions. Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law and the Kaavyaom Foundation emerged as the winners, showcasing exceptional talent across multiple categories. The festival's programming spanned a diverse range of genres, from classical and semi-classical compositions to contemporary pieces, highlighting the versatility of the performers.
In the highly anticipated group singing competition, each participant demonstrated remarkable vocal control, tonal clarity, and deep emotional expression. Their performances left the audience spellbound, creating an atmosphere of shared appreciation and cultural immersion.
Intellectual Engagement Through Quiz Competition
Beyond the artistic displays, Riwaayat fostered intellectual fervor with its quiz competition, titled 'Zahaanat'. Conducted in partnership with Battle IAS, the event challenged participants with thoughtfully curated questions covering a wide spectrum of topics.
"The quiz rounds were meticulously designed to test knowledge across disciplines," noted RMLNLU spokesperson Shashank Shekhar. "They encompassed everything from current affairs and historical events to pop culture and general awareness, ensuring a stimulating experience for all involved."
A Celebration of Holistic Development
Riwaayat stands as a testament to RMLNLU's dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel not only in legal studies but also in cultural and social domains. The festival successfully bridged the gap between academic rigor and creative expression, providing a platform for students to explore and showcase their multifaceted talents.
The event underscored the importance of integrating social consciousness into extracurricular activities, reinforcing the university's mission to develop future leaders who are both culturally aware and socially responsible. As the curtains fell on another successful edition, Riwaayat left an indelible mark on all attendees, celebrating the harmonious blend of tradition, innovation, and advocacy.
