French Embassy Delegation Visits MSU Vadodara

In a significant move to strengthen international educational partnerships, Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) in Vadodara welcomed a high-level delegation from the French embassy and Campus France on Thursday. The visit marks a concerted effort to deepen academic and scientific cooperation between Indian and French institutions.

High-Profile Delegation Tours University Facilities

The visiting team comprised key figures in Indo-French academic cooperation: Dr. Nicolas Gascoin, Deputy Counsellor for University and Scientific Cooperation at the French Embassy in India; Dr. Philippe Maurin, Attaché for University and Scientific Cooperation at the Consulate General of France in Mumbai; and Sujit Nair, Manager of Campus France in Ahmedabad. The delegates conducted an extensive tour of the Faculty of Technology and Engineering (FTE) and the Faculty of Science, where they closely examined state-of-the-art laboratories, research facilities, and workshops. This firsthand inspection provided them with valuable insights into MSU's robust academic environment and its ongoing scientific endeavours.

Strategic Discussions on Future Partnerships

The delegation engaged in substantive discussions with the university's top leadership, including the Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and various Deans. The talks centred on expanding academic collaboration, launching joint research initiatives, and forging stronger institutional partnerships between universities in India and France. A key highlight was an interactive session organised for doctoral students and early-career researchers. This forum focused on illuminating the opportunities within the French higher education and research ecosystem, covering crucial topics like:

  • Academic mobility programs for students and faculty.
  • Frameworks for bilateral research collaboration.
  • The mechanics of joint doctoral supervision (cotutelle) programmes.

Paving New Avenues for Indo-French Cooperation

The entire visit was coordinated by MSU's Office of International Affairs (OIA), with Professor Dhanesh Patel, Director of OIA and Dean of FTE, serving as the nodal officer. University officials stated that the engagement successfully reaffirmed the strong existing partnership between India and France in the spheres of higher education, science, and research. More importantly, it opened new avenues for strengthening institutional ties, promising enhanced opportunities for student exchange, faculty development, and groundbreaking collaborative research in the future.
