The Andhra Pradesh government has officially announced the schedule for the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET) 2025, a crucial gateway for aspiring lecturers and assistant professors. The application process for this mandatory qualification exam will commence on January 9, 2026.

Key Dates and Application Process

Prospective candidates can submit their applications exclusively through the official portals: apset.net.in and andhrauniversity.edu.in. The examination itself is scheduled to be held in an online mode on March 28 and 29, 2026. Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, is the conducting body for this test, which is organized on behalf of the state government following University Grants Commission (UGC) regulations.

This test is a non-negotiable requirement for anyone seeking lecturer or assistant professor positions in universities, government degree colleges, and private degree colleges across Andhra Pradesh. A qualifying certificate from APSET is valid for a lifetime.

Exam Pattern and Subject Coverage

The APSET-2025 will be conducted across 30 different subjects. The exam pattern consists of two papers:

  • Paper 1: This paper assesses Teaching and Research Aptitude. It covers areas like Teaching Aptitude, Research Methodology, Reading Comprehension, Communication, and Logical Reasoning.
  • Paper 2: This paper is dedicated to the subject chosen by the candidate from the list of 30. The syllabus for APSET is aligned with the UGC-NET framework.

The test will be administered at designated centers in various cities throughout Andhra Pradesh.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Fees

To be eligible, candidates must hold a Master's degree or an equivalent qualification from a UGC-recognized university. The minimum required marks are 55% for the General category and 50% for candidates belonging to reserved categories (SC, ST, BC, EWS, PwD). Notably, there is no upper age limit for appearing in the APSET. Candidates with a Ph.D. degree are eligible for relaxation in the minimum marks requirement.

The application fee structure is as follows:

  • General category: Rs 1,600
  • BC and EWS categories: Rs 1,300
  • SC, ST, PwD, and Third Gender categories: Rs 900

Payment must be made online using credit/debit cards or net banking. Information regarding a late fee application window, if any, will be specified in the official notification later.
