Maharashtra Schools to Conduct Statewide Patriotic Drill on Republic Day

In a significant announcement made on Thursday, Maharashtra's education commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh revealed that a state-level drill march based on patriotic songs will be held across all government and private schools on January 26, which marks Republic Day. This initiative is deeply rooted in the "Nation First" concept and aims to foster discipline while highlighting the crucial importance of physical exercise among students.

Massive Participation Expected Across the State

The programme is set to be conducted in more than one lakh schools throughout Maharashtra, with participation anticipated from over two crore students and nearly seven lakh teachers. The drill will be organized immediately after the flag unfurling ceremonies conducted by both state and central governments, lasting approximately 20 minutes to ensure a focused and impactful session.

Standardized Instructions and Logistics Planning

To maintain uniformity across all participating institutions, a standard instructional video for the patriotic drill has been meticulously prepared and shared with schools. Commissioner Singh emphasized that adequate arrangements for sound systems, stages, banners, and video recording have been instructed to all schools. Additionally, schools have been directed to deploy sufficient teachers, sports instructors, NCC cadets, and staff members to manage the students effectively during the event.

Comprehensive Safety and Community Involvement

Education officers at various levels have been tasked with planning detailed logistics, which include assessing ground capacity, coordinating student movement, arranging parking facilities, and ensuring overall safety measures. The event will also welcome public representatives, parents, and local citizens to witness the patriotic display, fostering community engagement and national pride.

Schools have received instructions to upload photos and videos of the programme on their respective school portals for documentation and wider visibility. Principals and class teachers will bear the responsibility of ensuring that all students return home safely after the event, prioritizing their well-being throughout the proceedings.

This large-scale initiative not only commemorates Republic Day but also reinforces the values of patriotism, discipline, and physical fitness among the younger generation in Maharashtra.
