Maharashtra HSC Board Examinations Commence in Kolhapur Division with Enhanced Security
The Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) board examinations for the Maharashtra State Board began on Tuesday, with students across the Kolhapur division appearing for the English language paper. In a significant move to ensure integrity, the Kolhapur district administration has implemented rigorous surveillance measures, including the deployment of drone technology at sensitive examination centers.
Unprecedented Surveillance and Security Protocols
This year, the district authorities have launched a comprehensive copy-free campaign to prevent malpractices. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed at all examination centers, enabling continuous monitoring of activities. Additionally, drone surveillance was specifically utilized at select sensitive locations to deter and detect any potential cheating attempts from the air.
Outside the exam halls, a familiar scene unfolded as parents gathered to support their children. Many offered words of encouragement, with several waiting patiently for up to three hours until the conclusion of the paper. The emotional support from families highlighted the high stakes associated with these crucial board exams.
Student Feedback and Administrative Assurance
Initial reactions from students indicated that the English paper, while considered easy by some, was notably lengthy. Ananya Mudgal, an HSC student at the New College examination center in Kolhapur, shared her experience: "The paper was easy, but lengthy. I was able to attempt around 98% of the question paper. Hopefully, other papers will also be easy."
Subhash Chougule, the secretary of the Kolhapur Board, confirmed that the first day of examinations proceeded peacefully. He emphasized the deployment of drone surveillance as a proactive measure to curb cheating. Furthermore, helplines, counselors, and dedicated support teams have been appointed to assist students throughout the examination period. Counseling services are available from 8 AM to 8 PM until the exams conclude, providing crucial emotional and academic support.
Official Appeals and Additional Precautions
Kolhapur District Collector Amol Yedge appealed to students to approach the exams with a calm and stress-free mindset. He stated, "Students' hard work throughout the year will pay off. Parents are requested not to put undue pressure on their children. Make sure that they get timely food, adequate sleep, and a conducive environment for studies."
To maintain examination sanctity, several restrictive measures were enforced on Tuesday. STD booths, photocopy, and fax centers within a 100-meter radius of exam centers were ordered to remain closed. Entry was strictly limited to examinees, education officers, and teachers, with parents prohibited from entering the premises to minimize disruptions.
Exam Participation and Future Outlook
In the Kolhapur division, which encompasses Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara districts, a total of 1,16,626 students are appearing for the HSC examinations. The combination of advanced technology like drones, traditional CCTV monitoring, and supportive counseling services aims to create a fair and secure testing environment. As the exams progress, authorities remain vigilant to ensure smooth conduct and uphold academic integrity across all centers.
