Students across India appearing for the crucial Class 10 and 12 board examinations conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are receiving vital support to combat stress this year. The board's annual counselling initiative has been significantly expanded, focusing squarely on strengthening mental well-being and equipping students with tools to handle pressure.
Digital Hubs: Exam Warriors and Manodarpan in Action
This year, CBSE has broadened its support system by launching dedicated digital sections named Exam Warriors and Manodarpan. These online platforms serve as comprehensive resources, offering students practical guidance on crucial skills like time management, improving concentration, maintaining emotional balance, and cultivating positive thinking.
Schools have reported that students are actively engaging with the diverse content available on the CBSE website, including helpful podcasts, instructional videos, and easy-to-understand infographics. This material is specifically designed to help them understand and navigate the intense pressure of the examination period.
Educators and school counsellors have observed a noticeable difference. Students who regularly use these digital resources appear more confident and better prepared, not just academically but also emotionally. The content, presented in simple and engaging formats, allows learners to connect with expert advice from the comfort of their homes, especially during critical revision hours.
Beyond the Screen: Toll-Free Support and Global Counsellors
In addition to the online materials, CBSE is providing direct access to free psycho-social counselling services for both students and parents. This telephonic support is available on all working days from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. Many parents have found this service invaluable in learning effective ways to support their children through the challenging exam phase.
The board has clarified that this extensive counselling programme will continue to run until June 1, aligning with the schedule of the second phase of the Class 10 board examinations.
To fortify support at the school level, CBSE has assembled a specialised counselling team. This team comprises principals, school counsellors, special educators, and qualified psychologists from affiliated schools across the globe. Out of the total, 63 counsellors are based in India, while 12 experts are providing guidance from countries including Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates. They offer tips on effective preparation, coping with anxiety, and improving overall performance.
Further widening access, an interactive voice response (IVR) system-based toll-free number has been established. This system enables students from diverse and remote regions to seek timely assistance with ease.
Voices of Confidence: Students and Parents Respond
The initiative has received positive feedback from its beneficiaries. Rajat Verma, a parent, expressed his appreciation, stating, "The psycho-social counselling services are extremely helpful. Knowing that professional help is available gives us reassurance. These initiatives have made the exam phase more balanced and positive for both students and parents."
Echoing this sentiment, Astha Pandey, a student of Dani Public School Khunti, shared her personal experience: "Before using Exam Warriors and Manodarpan, I used to feel very anxious during exams. The videos and podcasts helped me understand how to manage my time and stay calm. Now I feel much more confident."
School authorities are actively encouraging the use of these services. Sumit Kaur, Principal of Gurunanak Higher Secondary School, emphasised, "CBSE has urged schools, students, and parents to make maximum use of these services so that learners remain mentally strong, emotionally balanced, and confident throughout the examination period."
By integrating digital resources with direct counselling and a global expert network, CBSE's holistic approach is setting a strong foundation for students to tackle their board exams with resilience and a healthier mindset.
