In a significant move to tackle unemployment and foster self-reliance, the Dhamtari district administration in Chhattisgarh has inaugurated a new skill development hub. Named Madhurima Gurukul, this free training centre is located in Koliyari village and is designed specifically to empower the local youth.
Bridging the Skills Gap for Better Employment
The core mission of this initiative is to provide young men and women from the district with practical, market-oriented skills that can lead directly to secure jobs or opportunities for self-employment. The program seeks to address the critical disconnect between formal education and the actual demands of the modern workplace.
During a review of the project, District Collector Abinash Mishra emphasized the centre's role. He stated that Madhurima Gurukul will act as a structured platform where youths can acquire hands-on competencies aligned with current industry requirements, thereby significantly widening their career prospects.
Courses and Collaborative Support
The training centre will offer completely free instruction in several high-demand vocational trades. The planned courses include:
- Electrician
- Beauty and Wellness
- Computer Operations
- Retail Sales Management
- General Duty Assistance
The curriculum is heavily focused on practical, hands-on learning to ensure students are job-ready upon completion. The program is being implemented with crucial technical support from the Skill and Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI). It also receives backing from the Ambuja Foundation and various local partners, with the Jai Chandi Charitable Trust also involved in the initiative.
