Telangana Chief Minister Ensures T-Hub Remains Dedicated Startup Hub
In a significant move to bolster the startup ecosystem in Hyderabad, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has issued clear instructions to officials that T-Hub must continue functioning exclusively as a hub for startups and technology enterprises. The CM, currently on an official visit to the United States, communicated this directive to Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao via telephone on Saturday.
Immediate Withdrawal of Government Office Relocation Orders
The chief minister specifically ordered that all government orders issued for shifting certain government offices to the T-Hub building be immediately rescinded. This decision came after CM Reddy learned about a Government Order (GO) that proposed relocating government offices to T-Hub premises as part of a broader rationalization effort.
"Every inch of T-Hub facility will be utilised only to promote startups, tech enterprise, early stage companies with the goal aligned to Telangana Rising to create unicorns," stated an official release from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
Background of the Government Office Rationalization Plan
The Telangana government had recently issued orders for shifting 39 government offices currently operating from rented buildings across Hyderabad to government-owned properties. Among these properties was T-Hub, which was established specifically as an incubator and innovation catalyst for startups.
Under the original plan, the Begumpet divisional office of the revenue department's commercial taxes division was proposed to be relocated to T-Hub near Raidurg. Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao had previously instructed administrative officers to make necessary arrangements for this office relocation.
Comprehensive Office Relocation Strategy Across Hyderabad
The government's broader rationalization plan included multiple office relocations across various parts of Hyderabad:
- The offices of the energy department, environment and forests department, revenue (endowments), and revenue (stamps and registration) would be shifted to the Tuljaguda complex of Telangana Housing Board at Moazzam Jahi Market
- Food and civil supplies offices currently located in Malakpet, Yakutpura, and Charminar circles would move to Chandra Vihar building of Telangana Housing Board
- Chandra Vihar would also accommodate various offices of the youth advancement, tourism and culture department, currently functioning from NCC Group headquarters in Secunderabad
- Divisional offices of the revenue (commercial taxes) department functioning in Abids, Panjagutta, and Secunderabad would shift to Manoranjan Complex owned by the Housing Board in Secunderabad
- Finance department offices operating at Tarnaka, Chandrayangutta, Motigalli, and Narayanguda would relocate to Gruhakalpa building at Nampally
- Sub-registrar offices of the revenue department at SR Nagar and Balanagar would move to the health department's premises at Vengalraonagar near Ameerpet
Additional Government Office Relocations
The government notification also included plans for shifting other offices:
- The offices of the director (electronics), MD (T-Fibre), and CEO (T-Works) would move to NAC campus
- Station houses offices of the revenue (prohibition and excise) department would begin functioning from R&B office premises at Irrum Manzil
This comprehensive office relocation strategy aimed to optimize government operations while reducing rental expenditures. However, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's intervention ensures that T-Hub maintains its exclusive focus on nurturing startups and technological innovation, reinforcing Telangana's commitment to becoming a leading startup destination in India.
