The district administration in Gurgaon has witnessed an overwhelming response to its affordable housing initiative, receiving more than 1,20,000 applications for the allotment of 6,743 houses specifically reserved for individuals from the economically weaker section (EWS). This massive public interest highlights the critical need for accessible housing solutions in the rapidly developing urban landscape of the National Capital Region.
Scheme Details and Application Process
These 1-BHK flats, priced at an affordable Rs 1.5 lakh each, are strategically located within private developers' colonies and highrise societies. This placement ensures that beneficiaries gain access to organized residential facilities and planned urban infrastructure, moving beyond basic shelter to integrated community living.
The booking process officially commenced on Thursday in Gurgaon as part of the Chief Minister Urban Housing Scheme of the Haryana government. This initiative aims to provide dignified housing to low-income families while ensuring their seamless integration into properly planned urban neighborhoods, addressing both housing needs and social inclusion simultaneously.
Verification and Allotment Procedure
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar revealed that the corporation received a total of 12,384 applications specifically for this phase. During the initial verification process, 4,728 applications were found to be correct and complete. The administration has now moved to the crucial second phase of verification, which will begin once applicants deposit the booking amount of Rs 10,000.
Applicants have been given a clear timeline of one week from receiving official communication to complete this payment. Those found eligible during this second verification phase will be included in the final draw process for flat allotment. Successful candidates will then need to deposit the remaining amount of Rs 1.4 lakh to secure their housing unit.
The administration has assured transparency in the refund process as well. The booking amount will be fully refunded to applicants who do not receive an allotment in the final draw, ensuring no financial loss for unsuccessful candidates.
Transparency and Public Awareness
ADC Sonu Bhatt, who serves as the nodal officer for the scheme in the district, emphasized that the allotment process is being conducted with complete transparency. All relevant details about the scheme, including application status, verification procedures, and allotment criteria, are available on the official Haryana government website for public access and scrutiny.
Bhatt strongly urged eligible applicants to deposit their booking amounts within the prescribed deadline and actively participate in subsequent processes. This timely participation is crucial for beneficiaries to receive housing benefits without unnecessary delays, ensuring the scheme's objectives are met efficiently.
Cybersecurity Advisory
In light of increasing digital fraud cases, the administration issued an important cybersecurity advisory. ADC Bhatt appealed to the public to remain vigilant about potential cyber fraud during the application and verification process. Citizens have been advised to trust only official information received through established administrative channels and to verify any suspicious communication through authorized sources.
For additional information and clarification, applicants can contact the designated helpline at 0172-2585852 or visit the Antyodaya Saral Kendra located within the ADC office premises. These official channels have been established to provide accurate guidance and prevent misinformation from affecting genuine applicants.
This affordable housing initiative represents a significant step toward addressing urban housing challenges while promoting inclusive development in Gurgaon's expanding metropolitan area.
