Prayagraj LPG Crisis Deepens as Consumers Endure Prolonged Cylinder Delivery Delays
In a stark contradiction to official assurances, consumers across various parts of Prayagraj's Sangam area are grappling with severe hardships due to extensive delays in LPG cylinder deliveries. Despite repeated claims from authorities that there is no shortage of supply, the ground reality paints a picture of widespread disruption and frustration among residents.
Official Claims Versus Harsh Realities
The majority of consumers report that the actual situation differs dramatically from official statements. Many have detailed how, even after booking cylinders and receiving delivery authentication code (DAC) messages on their mobile phones, they are compelled to wait for several days. This delay forces them to make repeated, inconvenient visits to gas agencies, where they often stand in long queues for hours.
Voices from the Ground: Personal Accounts of Struggle
Purushottam Srivastava, a resident of the Old City area, shared his distressing experience. "Even after receiving confirmation, the cylinder has not been delivered. I have been waiting for more than a week. I booked on March 23 and despite receiving the DAC, no cylinder has arrived," he explained, highlighting the breakdown in the promised service.
Anjali, a resident of Lukerganj, emphasized the practical difficulties of managing household work without LPG. "It has been so many days of waiting, and we are managing with great difficulty," she stated, underscoring the daily challenges faced by families.
Communication Breakdown and Inconvenience
Residents have also complained about a complete lack of responsiveness from delivery staff. Akhilesh, another Old City resident, revealed that he received a DAC message over ten days ago but has yet to receive his cylinder. "When distributors do not answer calls, we have no other option but to visit the agency, which is extremely inconvenient," he lamented, pointing to the added burden of physical visits.
Supply Chain Issues and Distributor Insights
Customers have raised serious questions about the discrepancy between official claims and the actual supply on the ground. Distributors have confirmed that there is at least a ten-day gap between booking, generating the DAC, and the eventual delivery of cylinders. They attribute this backlog to inadequate daily supply from oil companies, noting that demand can only be met when there is no quota cut in cylinder allocations.
The backlog limit continues to increase, exacerbating the crisis. On a recent Sunday, large numbers of people rushed to agencies in Old City areas to seek explanations for the delays, reflecting the growing public unrest.
Appeal for Better Monitoring and Accountability
In response to the ongoing issues, consumers have made a collective appeal for enhanced monitoring of gas agencies. They are calling for stricter oversight to ensure timely delivery of cylinders and to prevent any potential malpractice that might be contributing to the delays.
This situation in Prayagraj highlights a critical gap in the LPG supply chain, affecting daily life and raising concerns about the reliability of essential services in the region.
