The Akhil Gujarat Truck Transport Association (AGTTA) has called on the Gujarat state government to urgently address the escalating shortage of diesel and other petroleum products in several parts of the state. Association members have warned that this crisis is severely hampering transport, trade, and industrial activities across the region.
Representation to Deputy Chief Minister
In a formal representation submitted to Deputy Chief Minister and Home & Transport Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the AGTTA highlighted that the shortage is particularly acute in Kutch, Saurashtra, and North Gujarat. In these areas, numerous fuel stations in remote locations have reportedly shut down operations due to inadequate supply from distributors.
Impact on Commercial Vehicle Owners
The AGTTA, which represents nearly 12 lakh commercial vehicle owners throughout Gujarat, stated that the current situation has disrupted the movement of goods and created significant operational difficulties for transporters. Those linked to ports and industrial corridors are facing especially severe challenges.
Trade and industry are facing considerable problems due to the shortage, the representation noted. Transportation linked to ports has also become difficult, it added. The association emphasized that if vehicles remain parked even for a single day, operators can suffer heavy financial losses. They have requested the state government to ensure uninterrupted fuel availability across all affected regions.
