Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Amsterdam on Monday for the second leg of his five-nation tour. He was received at the airport by Dutch officials and will later hold bilateral talks with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
Strengthening Bilateral Ties
The visit aims to strengthen the strategic partnership between India and the Netherlands. Discussions are expected to focus on trade, investment, water management, agriculture, and innovation. Both leaders are likely to explore new avenues of cooperation in areas such as renewable energy, smart cities, and technology.
Agenda for the Visit
PM Modi's itinerary includes a meeting with the Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. He will also interact with the Indian diaspora in the Netherlands. A business summit is scheduled to bring together industry leaders from both nations to boost economic ties.
The Netherlands is India's fourth largest trading partner in Europe, with bilateral trade exceeding $12 billion. Over 200 Dutch companies operate in India, while Indian firms have significant investments in the Netherlands.
This visit is part of PM Modi's broader outreach to European nations, aimed at enhancing India's global engagement. After concluding his trip to the Netherlands, he will proceed to the next leg of his tour.
