Two Students Die in Bike Crash, Minivan Kills One in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A late-night joyride turned fatal for two young nursing students after their bike crashed into a road divider near Doddabele Junction on Mysuru Road in the early hours of Saturday. The deceased, Atul and Gouri Shankar, both 21, were students at SJB College of Nursing in Kengeri.

According to preliminary police investigations, a group of students had gone for a coffee ride to Kanmanike on Mysuru Road on their two-wheelers. Atul and Shankar were riding a Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle on the return journey. Between 2am and 2.15am, the rider lost control and crashed into a road divider, throwing both riders onto the road.

The impact left the duo with severe injuries. Their friends, along with passersby, rushed them to Rajarajeshwari Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. Police were alerted around 6am. Kengeri traffic police have registered a case of self-accident against Atul. The bodies were handed over to families after post-mortem, and further investigation is ongoing.

Minivan Accident Claims One Life

In a separate incident, a minivan rammed into multiple vehicles before overturning near BDA Indraprastha Apartment in Kengeri on Mysuru Road, killing one person and injuring six others on Saturday morning.

The accident occurred around 6.45am. According to eyewitness Mallu, 23, who works at a fuel station, the minivan (KA-50-MB-4544) was traveling from RV College towards Kengeri when the driver lost control and swerved left. It first hit a scooter and a bike traveling ahead, then overturned and slammed into an electric pole.

The two-wheeler riders and Sukhdev, 41, a passenger in the van, were thrown onto the road. Sukhdev died while being shifted to hospital. The injured include Parejan (scooter rider), Ashoka and Rahul (bike riders), and van occupants Abhijit and Bhagirath. Preliminary investigations suggest rash driving by the driver, Swaroop Chand, 25, who escaped with minor injuries. Parejan is critical; others are out of danger. Kengeri traffic police have registered a case against Chand.
