Man hurls stones from roof in Khargone, injures 8

A man created panic in a residential locality of Sanawad town in Khargone by pelting stones at passersby from the roof of his house, injuring several people, police said.

Incident Details

The man, identified as Jitendra Yadav alias Kalu, reportedly locked the door of his house, climbed onto the roof, and started hurling stones and bricks at people passing through the area on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The incident spread fear among residents of Islampura and nearby localities, with eight persons sustaining injuries, said Sanawad police station in-charge Dharmendra Yadav.

One person suffered a fractured arm while three sustained fractures in ribs. Several others received minor injuries during the incident, he added.

Police Response

After receiving information, police reached the spot and attempted to persuade the man to stop. He, however, turned aggressive and began targeting police personnel as well. Bricks thrown by him narrowly missed the SHO and members of his team.

As panic gripped the area, SHO Yadav climbed a wall, reached the rooftop, and overpowered the accused. The man, who appeared mentally disturbed, was taken into custody and produced before a local court, which directed that he be sent to a mental health facility in Indore for treatment, said Yadav.

Previous Incidents

Locals said that the man had displayed similar behavior in the past, causing repeated disturbances in the neighborhood.
