Rourkela: The mutilated body of a 50-year-old man was recovered from the railway track near the overbridge close to TCI Chowk in Rourkela on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Padam Bahadur. His two-wheeler was found parked near the railway track. Police officials of GRP, Rourkela, seized the body. It has been kept in the morgue house. It is yet to be ascertained whether the death was accidental or a case of suicide.
The incident was reported early in the morning when local residents noticed the body lying on the tracks and alerted the authorities. Upon arrival, the Government Railway Police (GRP) cordoned off the area and began an investigation. The two-wheeler belonging to the deceased was found parked nearby, raising questions about the circumstances leading to the death.
Padam Bahadur, a resident of the area, was reportedly last seen by his family on Monday evening. His family members have been informed and are awaiting further details. The body has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. Police are also checking CCTV footage from the vicinity to piece together the events.
Investigation Underway
The GRP has registered a case and is investigating all angles. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the death could be either an accident or a suicide, but no foul play is suspected at this stage. The railway track near TCI Chowk is a busy stretch, and such incidents have been reported in the past.
